The JVP says there are many facts that need to be revealed regarding the Yugadanavi Power Plant agreement.
Speaking during a media briefing today, JVP Politburo member former Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti cited the impact of the LNG agreement as the reason behind the recent power outages and gas leak explosions.
Handunnetti termed individuals involved in the agreement as modern-day traitors adding they approved and signed the agreement without any research.
The former MP said the government has only revealed the key details of the agreement adding there are more serious facts yet to be revealed.
He said the government is attempting to justify recent incidents and is attempting to mislead the public to reach assumptions that domestic gas is not essential.
Handunnetti said the public have resorted to cooking with firewood while kerosene cookers have increased to Rs.8,500 from Rs.1,500.
He said the government is attempting to market LNG to the public adding they will soon forget the controversial LNG agreement.
