Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Kabir Hashim says there are a number of concerns pertaining to the new agreement signed for the development of the Trincomalee Oil Tank Farm.
Speaking to NewsRadio MP Hashim said it is unclear if any investment has taken place through the Oil Tank Farm agreement.
The MP said the Oil Tanks are worth billions of rupees adding that discussions should have been held pertaining to entering an investment opportunity with India and other organisations, as a commercial and trade activity.
However, MP Hashim said the agreement is merely focused on Sri Lanka obtaining a loan for a bankrupt country.
The MP charged that with the strategic location of the Trincomalee Oil Tank Farm, the agreement also poses a risk to national security.
MP Hashim said several acres of land in Trincomalee has also been vested with India through the agreement, with 49% of its stake vested with India, while Sri Lanka has in its possession around 25 tanks.
The MP said many questions exist regarding the agreement, whether its on freehold, an investment, or a fund transaction.
