The National Election Commission says Manju Lalith Warnakumara will be appointed to the vacant Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Kalutara District Parliament seat.
The Election Commission that convened today decided that the Gazette Notification in this regard will be issued this evening.
Manju Lalith Warnakumara is being appointed to the Parliamentary seat according to provisions of Article 62 of the Parliament Election Act No.1 of 1981.
Warnakumara obtained 46,361 votes at the 2020 General Election after contesting under the ticket of the SLPP from the Kalutara District.
The seat was vacant following the resignation of Mahinda Samarasinghe, who is due to assume duties as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United States.
