Former President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to take action over what he claims is a malicious statement that was made against him by the JVP at a media briefing yesterday.
The former President taking to social media said the Convener of the Voice Against Corruption Wasantha Samarasinghe, who participated in the media briefing, levelled the accusations.
During the media briefing, Samarasinghe said a fraction of the funds obtained through the controversial Treasury bond transaction was distributed to then President Maithripala Sirisena and his family members.
The former President vehemently denied the charges.
Former President Sirisena said it is politically unethical to level such baseless claims at innocent persons based on gaining political advantages.
Former President Sirisena added the process followed by the former President in investigating the Treasury bond transactions through the appointment of a Presidential Commission comprising Supreme Court judges by conducting a forensic audit received national and international recognition.
