The government has requested the public to maintain maximum self-discipline at a time when the country is facing a serious health crisis.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing this afternoon at the Government Information Department, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana said the government and the health sector cannot face the coronavirus pandemic alone.

Minister Pathirana said the public will again gather in crowds when the lockdown is lifted and requested the public to practice social distancing and adhere to health guidelines.

The Minister said the government is attempting to manage the situation and provide essential items to the public during the lockdown.

He claimed the government has reached many crucial decisions at a very critical time to provide relief to low income earners.
