Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department against Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka.
The complaint was lodged over a statement by MP Ranawaka that financial fraud has taken place through the importation of nano urea fertiliser from India.
Speaking to media after filing the complaint, Minister Aluthgamage said MP Ranawaka during a media briefing last Friday said the Ministry of Agriculture is importing a litre of nano urea that is USD 5 at USD 20.
Minister Aluthgamage said MP Ranawaka levelled the accusations at him and State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa.
The Minister added nano urea is not imported from India adding Sri Lanka is currently importing nano nitrogen liquid fertiliser.
Therefore, the Minister said he filed a complaint with the CID as he was named in this accusation and called for an investigation and called for legal action to be taken against MP Ranawaka if the claims are unfounded.
