Political sources claim President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to step down from the post.
The Prime Minister was issued the directive during last evenings special Cabinet of Minister’s meeting at the President’s House.
Several Ministers had agreed with the President’s directive.
However, the Prime Minister’s Media Secretary Rohan Welivita said Premier Rajapaksa has no intention of stepping down as Prime Minister while he was not informed to step down either.
Prime Minister Rajapaksa on several previous occasions also stated that he will not step down from the position, while he once claimed that the President will not call his resignation as well.
