Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Matara District Parliamentarian Nipuna Ranawaka says the lockdown imposed by Sri Lanka, is an accepted method across the world.
Speaking during a media briefing this morning, MP Ranawaka said the country can continue to operate in a number of economically important sectors even when the country is closed through its unique hybrid lockdown system.
The Parliamentarian claimed even though certain countries including Australia and New Zealand implemented a complete lockdown, they failed to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the country needs to move forward, without the economy collapsing.
MP Ranawaka claimed the President and the government were able to face the pandemic with the country they inherited, considering the economy of the country during the past five years.
