The Government Medical Officers Association says the list of medical transfers for the year 2022 has been delayed.
Issuing a statement the GMOA said the preparation of annual transfers is being delayed as the Secretary of Health and the Public Service Commission are exchanging letters and issuing interpretations at a time when the transfer list is due to be published before the 1st of November.
The GMOA said according to the circular on the transfer of Grade Medical Officers in 2001 and the Extraordinary Gazette of 2009 on the Procedure Rules of the Public Service Commission, the transfer day is effective from the 1st of January, the year when the transfer order was issued.
The statement said the transfer has become complex and inefficient due to the Public Service Commission defining the date that the transfer will take effect, contrary to regulations.
The Government Medical Officers Association said it will lodge a complaint with Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella in this regard.
