Private bus operations will be limited today as well due to the shortage of diesel.
President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association Gemunu Wijeratne said a large number of private buses are still in queues at filling station to obtain diesel.
He said once the matter is resolved they are hoping to resume full private bus operations.
However, Sri Lanka Transport Board buses and trains are functioning as per usual timetables.
Meanwhile, three-wheeler and taxi services and other public transport services have also been affected by the shortage of fuel.
However, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has assured that the usual quantities of 5,000MT of petrol and 3,500MT of diesel will be released to filling stations from today.
The Minister yesterday said the distribution of fuel stocks to filling stations was limited during the past few days with only 3,200MT of diesel and 2,800MT of petrol released daily.
Long queues have been witnessed forming outside filling stations over the past two days.
