Authorities say the latest shipment arrived at the Port of Colombo with LP gas which was procured by the Litro Gas company does not comply with the required level of ethyl mercaptan.
When inquired by NewsRadio, the Consumer Affairs Authority said a decision on permitting to unload the stock of LP gas at the Port will be taken during the course of the day.
Samples obtained from the consignment were tested in the past few days.
The State Ministry of Consumer Protection said although the composition of propane and butane has met the quality standard, it has concerns pertaining to the level of ethyl mercaptan in the cylinders.
