A large number of people have gathered at Galleface for the anti-government protest demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
NewsRadio correspondents said people have been flocking in from across the country.
Individuals who were unable to source fuel to travel were seen carpooling and in lorries and container trucks heading to Galleface.
Protesters were also seen on foot walking towards Galleface.
Protests are being held opposite the Colombo, Fort Railway Station, the President’s House in Colombo, Fort and several entry points to Colombo.
Meanwhile, a large number of lawyers also joined the Galleface protest site on foot from the Hultsdorf Court complex.
Several lawyers’ organisations joined the protest march.
Police earlier fired tear gas and water cannons twice to disperse a group of protesters at Chatham Street, Colombo 01.
Police also fired tear gas at protesters at the Galleface Green.
The protesters engaged in the anti-government demonstration are demanding the resignation of the President, the Prime Minister and the government.
Meanwhile, seven individuals sustained injuries in the rounds of tear gas that was fired.
he seven injured individuals have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
Five protesters and two Policemen are among the injured.
