State Minister Nimal Lanza has handed over a detailed report to the President today, over the recent controversy surrounding him.
In a special statement to media this afternoon, State Minister Lanza said he did not respond over the matter as public grievances and the economic crisis trumped his personal issues.
An audio clip circulated on social media of a conversation between State Ministers Nimal Lanza and Sanath Nishantha over a road development project, with State Minister Nishantha heard threatening Lanza.
State Minister Lanza said he hopes the President will conduct an inquiry into the matter at the earliest, claiming the President is the only persons able to address the issue.
However, Lanza stated certain members of the government faction levelled allegations at him, while some others advised him against responding.
Lanza called for all groups, government and opposition, to join hands in solving the country’s issues instead of blaming one another.
Lanza said a dollar crisis is prevalent and a change in government will not resolve this crisis, attributing the dollar crisis to the coronavirus.
He claimed an economic policy must be formulated while the responsibility should be borne by all parties.
