The husband of the Chief Administrative Officer of the Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha who was stabbed and killed, has been arrested on suspicion over her murder.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the husband had pled guilty to killing his wife early last morning (4).
Police said the officer’s head was struck with an ax while she was asleep.
The 42-year-old female, a mother of two, succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.
Police said the husband initially claimed that the house was broken into and his wife was murdered by thieves.
