The Ceylon Electricity Board says they have received 10,000MT of diesel required to operate the Kelanitissa Power Station for the next eight days.
Speaking to NewsRadio, CEB Additional General Manager and Media Spokesman Andrew Nawamani said the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has taken steps to provide 500MT of fuel for the Sapugaskanda and Colombo Port barge-mounted power station.
However, Nawamani said fuel required for the operation of the Sapugaskanda Refinery is sufficient only for another nine hours adding fuel required for the operation of the Colombo Port power plant is sufficient for the next 20 hours.
Meanwhile, Navamani noted the CEB can provide electricity today without enforcing power cuts.
