The United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme and the Regional Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau of Asia and the Pacific Kanni Wignaraja today called on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
During discussions, Kanni Wignaraja commended Sri Lanka’s successful COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Premier Rajapaksa said the two also discussed an array of issues including Sustainable Development Goals, climate change, and youth empowerment and reinforcing the private sector.
The two parties expressed hope to continue to work closely together.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Secretary-General also paid a courtesy call on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at the Parliament premises.
The two parties discussed a number of areas, including the COVID-19 mitigation programme in Sri Lanka.
