The express train from Kandy to Colombo has derailed between the Kadigamuwa and Rambukkana train stations.
Accordingly, railway operations along the Upcountry Railway Line has been disrupted.
The Department of Railways said two wheels of the train had derailed adding the incident occurred at the same place that a train distributing fuel derailed recently.
