Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says they expect an uninterrupted supply of fuel from next Monday.
He said a request has been made from the Ceylon Electricity Board Chairman, to quote the required fuel volumes to supply uninterrupted electricity during the exam season.
In reply the CEB chairman has requested that 50,000MT of diesel and 65,000MT of furnace oil be given to the power plants to generate uninterrupted electricity.
The Minister said they are looking at ways to facilitate this request since it is easier to provide uninterrupted electricity, over supplying diesel to power generators.
Minister Wijesekera said they will try to release the furnace oil shipment from customs on Monday, and try to facilitate the need for electricity.
He assured that the deadline to supply uninterrupted electricity to citizens will be brought forward by ten days.
