The JVP stresses that the government is trying to propagate an ideology that solutions to the crisis can be found if local assets are sold to foreign entities.
Speaking to media in Ampara, Politburo member of the JVP Former MP Sunil Handunnetti said the president has used his authoritarian powers to force the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board to award a wind power project in Mannar to a specific entity.
He pointed out that Sri Lanka is completely dependent on India to provide essentials.
He recalled of the CEB Chairman’s statement before the Committee on Public Enterprise, where he was forced by the President to assign an energy project to an Indian company, as the Indian Prime Minister has made a Government to government request.
Handunnetti pointed out that the government has betrayed CEB Chairman Ferdinando over the renewable energy deal.
The JVP member warned people not to be fooled by government tactics.
Speaking on the appointment of businessmen Dhammika Perera to replace Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa in Parliament, Handunnetti said the economic crisis cannot be solved in such a way.
He pointed out that Basil Rajapaksa would have had to resign after the 21st Amendment was passed, since it cancels out the dual citizenship cause.
