Minister Johnston Fernando says the prices of goods will increase further in the country in the future.
Minister Fernando said the public will have to face certain difficulties until the pandemic diminishes.
Speaking to media in Mirigama, Minister Johnston Fernando said as knowledgeable people, the country’s citizens should be mindful that they have to endure certain issues when the world is experiencing a pandemic.
He said they are compelled to increase prices of goods and fuel adding it could go up further.
The Minister said the government is carrying out a programme to safeguard the country and the economy, at present.
He also said there are issues relating to gas distribution and noted that they will look into who is responsible for the crisis.
The Minister said he believes some individuals had deliberately sabotaged the gas supplies and distribution mechanism.
Minister Johnston Fernando meanwhile claimed there is no foreign reserves crisis in the country.
He said despite claims that the country will default on its debt and will go bankrupt, the government will manage them adding that toppling the present administration through such assertions will remain a dream of the opposition.
