Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Jagath Kumara says he is prepared to face a disciplinary review if he is found to be at fault.
Speaking at a media briefing today MP Kumara commented on the conflict of opinion between himself and Minister Sarath Weerasekera regarding the appointment of the Officer in Charge of the Padukka Police Station.
MP Kumara said if an attempt is made to seek disciplinary action against MPs who criticize incorrect decisions by members of the government and injustices, many more MPs who have been subject to injustice could stand against the government.
MP Kumara also accused Minister Sarath Weerasekera of being the main reason for the teachers’ and principals’ trade union struggle to last this long, adding this was due to the manner in which protesters were treated during previous protests.
The Parliamentarian said he will be compelled to reveal secrets to the country if Ministers Sarath Weerasekera and Gamini Lokuge continue to level false allegations against him.
He said the Ministers should work for the benefit of the public and country.
MP Kumara claimed Minister Weerasekera said he was asked to appoint an associate of Minister Lokuge as the OCI adding it was unethical to interfere with the independence of the Police.
