The issuance of kerosene oil at filling stations has been limited.
Accordingly, one individual will be provided only five litres of kerosene oil.
The Sales Manager of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said the decision will be enforced with immediate effect. He informed that a circular in this regard was issued today as well.
However, the CPC official said a special system will be introduced for fishermen to obtain kerosene oil, based on a written request by the Ministry of fisheries.
He warned that licenses of filling stations that fail to comply with the new regulations will be suspended immediately.
Despite a ban on filling fuel into containers, the CPC official said they considered practical necessities of fuel for industrial purposes.
Therefore the CPC has formed a special mechanism where District and Provincial Sectaries can issue a letter of permission.
This letter will allow individuals who require using fuel in relevant industries, to obtain it in cans or barrels in limited quantities.
