The opposition claims the government is only keen on diverting the attention of the people from problems, instead of resolving them.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian Harsha De Silva said the general public is now aware of the motives of the present administration and will not fall for it.
He said the incumbent government is creating new topics for media outlets to cover on a weekly basis. MP De Silva said cricket is one of the main diversion tactics used by the government.
He said however the President will not able to achieve his goal now as the citizens who have been severely burdened are well aware of the present government’s inabilities.
Parliamentarian Harsha De Silva on a separate note said they are hoping to summon the present and former Chairmen of the Litro Gas Lanka Limited before the Committee on Public Enterprises.
MP De Silva said they are hoping to question the duo on a controversial statement made by the current Litro Chairman Theshara Jayasinghe during a recent media briefing.
Litro Chairman Theshara Jayasinghe had claimed that he received threats from persons behind a certain mafia to grant a two-year extension to the current contract given to a company that supplies gas to Litro Gas Lanka Limited.
MP De Silva said the COPE will question the Chairman regarding the claims. He said if summons is issued, they must appear before Parliament and provide answers.
