State Minister of Community Police Services Dilum Amunugama says the intelligence units have launched investigations into claims by Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara thera that another attack similar to the East Sunday bombings will be carried out by religious extremists.
Speaking to media, State Minister Amunugama pointed out that religious extremist organizations across the globe are witnessing a revival after Taliban militants captured Afghanistan recently.
However, State Minister Amunugama stressed that the present government will not allow any extremists to carry out an attack similar to the April 2019 bombings in Sri Lanka.
The State Minister said the intelligence units are always on the lookout for extremist activity within the country.
He assured that security checks are being carried out continuously to safeguard citizens.
The State Minister also stressed that they will not let anyone repeat the same mistakes of the previous government.
