The Ministry of Education will conduct an inquiry into Ordinary Level students having to sit the examination in classrooms that were flooded and leaking at a school in the Gampaha Education Zone yesterday owing to the incessant rain.
Photos were circulated on social media of students sitting for the exam while holding umbrellas.
The inquiry will be conducted by the Department of Examinations into the selection of classrooms, the failure to take swift action and change classrooms, and failing to report the situation to the Exam Department.
A statement issued by the Education Ministry said the Commissioner General of Examinations has been issued instructions to take appropriate action to prevent such incidents from taking place in the future.
The Education Ministry said according to the report by the Exam Department prompt steps were taken to ease the difficulties candidates faced at the time.
