The public will have an opportunity to inform the Election Commission if their name is not included in the 2020 voter register, from today till the 17th of November.
The Election Commission said objections can be lodged during this period.
The voter register is currently displayed at government agent’s offices, Election Commission offices, Divisional Secretariats, Provincial Councils and Grama Niladhari offices.
The Registration of Electors Amendment Bill was passed in Parliament recently granting the right for youth to vote as soon as they complete 18 years of age.
Accordingly it will allow the voter register to be formulated every four months, including names of voters who complete 18 years.
