A stock of medicines and medical equipment worth Rs.550 million, donated by the Indonesian government, has been handed over to the government.
The goods were handed to Minister of Health Channa Jayasumana by the Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday.
Sources at the BIA said the consignment of medicine and medical equipment weighed 3,100kg.
Among the medicine were cancer treatment-drugs.
The Health Minister said the prompt assistance provided by Indonesia at a crucial time for Sri Lanka, amidst difficulties in obtaining medicines, will further strengthen the 70-year long diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
