The Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Vinay Kwatra has arrived in the island to hold discussions pertaining Sri Lanka’s economic situation.
The four-member high-level delegation arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at around 9.20am from New Delhi.
The delegation includes the Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, Dr V Anantha Nageswaran, the Secretary to the Department of Economic Affairs Ajay Seth and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Karthik Pandey.
The delegation headed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra is scheduled to meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and officials of the Ministry of Finance today.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said they have requested for fresh assistance from India, despite receiving loans amounting to USD 4 billion under the Indian credit line recently.
