Indian Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla arrived in the island on a four-day official visit yesterday.
The Indian delegation arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport around 7.40pm yesterday and were welcomed by a group of Foreign Ministry officials and staff attached to the Indian High Commission in Colombo.
The Indian Foreign Secretary will be in Sri Lanka till Tuesday on an invitation extended by Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage.
The Foreign Ministry said the visit is expected to contribute towards consolidating the longstanding multifaceted relations and enhance bilateral partnerships between two countries.
Apart from bilateral discussions with the Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary, the Indian Foreign Secretary’s programme includes a visit to the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and the Foreign Minister.
The visiting Foreign Secretary is also expected to visit Kandy, Trincomalee and Jaffna during his stay.
This is Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla’s first visit to Sri Lanka since assuming office as the Foreign Secretary of India.
