Foreign Minister Prof. GL Peiris says India’s financial support for Sri Lanka has been invaluable during difficult times.
Speaking during a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna rally in Anuradhapura, the Foreign Minister said India is providing a great deal of financial strength to Sri Lanka.
The Minister emphasized that Sri Lanka is not being sidelined by international partners or facing the current economic problems alone.
He said India granted USD 2.4 billion in financial assistance in recent weeks to Sri Lanka.
Foreign Minister GL Peiris noted that the Indian External Affairs Minister had conveyed to him that India will seek support from Japan, Australia and the United States on behalf of Sri Lanka during an upcoming conference.
Minister Peiris claimed that such assistance is extended to Sri Lanka due to the success of the government’s foreign policy.
