Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla is scheduled to visit Colombo in early October.
The Hindu said India and Sri Lanka seek to engage at high levels.
The scheduled visit comes 10 days after India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Sri Lankan counterpart Minister GL Peiris met on the side-lines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Hindu said sources in New Delhi indicated that Shringla will likely inaugurate some key bilateral projects between the 2nd and 5th of October though the main focus of his visit is still unknown.
S Jaishankar visited Sri Lanka in January. The visit is Shringla’s first to Sri Lanka as Foreign Secretary.
He has worked closely on issues pertaining to Indo-Lanka relations in his capacity as Joint Secretary in New Delhi some years ago, overseeing Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Maldives.
