Independent political party leaders say have decided to meet the Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, to hold talks on the present political and social crisis in the country.
Speaking to media today parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said they hope to plan a date for the talks in the near future.
Speaking to media yesterday, after a meeting of Independent political party leaders, the Parliamentarian said talks with the Russian Ambassador will focus on seeking assistance from Russia to end the country’s shortage of fuel and LP gas.
Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera said they will build a new political coalition with a renewed vision and strategy.
The MP assured that the political coalition will introduce measures to end the queuing culture in Sri Lanka.
Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara pointed out that the crisis is worsening due to the unavailability of fuel in the country.
He commented that the people require electricity, if fuel is not supplied continuously.
MP Nanayakkara said people must use alternative modes of transport to combat the crisis.
