The 11 political parties affiliated to the government says they have not held discussions regarding the pending No-Confidence Motion to be tabled in parliament.
Speaking to NewsRadio Parliamentarian Weerasumana Weerasinghe says they are expecting a reply to a proposal they presented to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday, before they can take a final decision on dealing with the No-Confidence Motion.
He also said past Presidents have dealt with impeachment successfully.
MP Weerasinghe claimed that it is a time when public have rejected all 225 parliamentarians.
He recalled that a letter signed by four persons including former President Maithripala Sirisena was directed to the President requesting the formation of an all-party interim government.
The MP commented that people’s problems will not be solved if Parliamentarians continue to argue over political issues.
He said authorities must take quick short term measures to stop the economic crisis.
The Parliamentarian hoped the President would give a favourable response to their suggestions presented yesterday.
However, in the event it is unfavourable, he said the 11 Independent political parties representing the government, and Independent Members of Parliament will hold talks on the No-Confidence motion.
