11 political parties representing the government that recently declared themselves independent are scheduled to meet today.
Today’s meeting will include Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Athuraliye Rathana Thera and Former President Maithripala Sirisena.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa under powers vested in him as the Executive President, yesterday issued a statement calling on all political parties to join the administration, to create an all party government as a solution to the present economic crisis.
As a first step in this process, talks are scheduled to be held tomorrow between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Party Leaders of political parties representing the government and leaders of parties that represented the government after the immediate General Election but are now functioning as independent parties.
The 11 political parties that recently declared themselves independent will confirm their attendance to tomorrow’s meeting with the President, after today’s talks.
Furthermore, a meeting of the Parliamentary Group of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is due to be held today at 4.30 pm under the patronage of the President at the Presidents House.
