Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Thalatha Athukorala claims the income of foreign expatriates has reduced rapidly at present.
Speaking in Parliament MP Athukorala said it is regrettable that the government is taking dollars sent to the country by foreign expatriates, under such circumstances.
She noted 10 percent of the amount sent by foreign expatriates is taken by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and is given at a rate of Rs.200 per dollar.
The MP said however if funds are sent illegally, and not through the Central Bank, expatriates receive Rs.240 per dollar.
She questioned why the CBSL is operating in such a manner and taking hard earned money of expatriates.
