Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Dinesh Gunawardena says Sri Lankan authorities must take immediate action to resolve concerns surrounding the Russian aircraft detained in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at an event in Kesbewa the Minister said immediate action should be taken before any major economic damage takes place.
Russian carrier Aeroflot decided to temporarily halt flights between Moscow and Colombo, in protest of its Airbus A330 which was detained at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Aeroflot has also taken steps to suspend the sale of air tickets to Sri Lanka as well.
The Colombo Commercial High Court issued an injunction order last Thursday, preventing a Russian Aeroflot A330 from leaving Sri Lanka.
Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Harsha Sethunga issued the injunction order on the respondent Russian airline after considering a complaint filed by an Irish aviation company.
The order states that it will remain effective until the 16th of June.
