The visiting delegation of the International Monetary Fund has called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to update him on the progress of the discussions.
The discussion took place at the President’s House in Colombo, Fort this evening (24).
The delegation that was in Sri Lanka for a week studied the policies in detail in order to reach a staff-level agreement.
The IMF delegation briefed the President on the discussions held with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and other officials linked to the economy including experts pertaining to the current situation.
The delegation said the IMF intends to extend support during this difficult period given that Sri Lanka complies with the policies of the International Monetary Fund.
The President meanwhile detailed the prevalent economic conditions and also extended his appreciation towards the IMF for supporting Sri Lanka during such trying times.
