Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says images circulating on social media of the elephant that collided with actor Jackson Anthony’s vehicle are false.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing today the Minister said it was reported that the elephant involved in the accident was struck and had collapsed on the vehicle.
He said three teams had been deployed in search of the wild elephant.
Minister Amaraweera said pictures circulating on social media are of an elephant that had been struck by a train in India and no injured elephant has yet been found by the teams.
He said no reports of severe injuries to the elephant have been received.
