The opposition has lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police calling for disciplinary action to be taken against Policemen assaulting the public at filling stations.
Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahman speaking to media after submitting the complaint yesterday said the duty of the Police is to represent and protect the public and are today instead protecting political leaders.
MP Rahman said an organised effort is underway to arrest youth engaged in the people’s struggle and to silence dissent.
He added the opposition requested the IGP to take action against Policemen who are carrying out the agendas of political leaders, and the government outside of their jurisdiction.
