Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has vowed to make independent decisions pertaining to his future political activities.
Speaking to media in Colombo today, the Minister said he was disappointed by the comments of certain leaders at yesterday’s party leaders meeting.
He said it would have been better had he not attended the meeting adding that he wondered if such individuals would be taking over the country.
Meanwhile, Minister Amaraweera said the people’s struggle is justified as they raised their voice against several issues in the country.
However, he expressed his disappointment in historic and valuable items at the Presidential Secretariat, the Temple Trees, and the President’s House being destroyed.
Minister Amaraweera noted that one painting is worth millions of dollars that can be used to purchase five shipments of fuel.
He urged members of the people’s struggle to ensure the safety of these items.
Commenting on the destruction at the Prime Minister’s residence, Minister Amaraweera said the Premier’s library contained numerous books, and paintings, that cannot be found elsewhere in the country, which have been ruined.
He termed such actions a crime.
