Inspector General of Police CD Wickramaratne and the Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva will appear before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
Issuing a statement, Chairperson of the Commission Justice (Retired) Rohini Marasinghe said the IGP and the Army Commander were instructed to appear before the Commission at 10 this morning.
The statement said necessary action will be taken against the relevant officials over the failure to provide adequate security to the citizens and their residences and over the failure to ensure the rule of law.
The Human Rights Commission said all individuals responsible for the violence will be arrested while ensuring due process. The Commission will be conducting further investigations.
