Several vehicles have collided on the Southern Expressway between Kottawa and Kahathuduwa causing severe traffic congestion.
Authorities said the pile up was reported adjacent to the Kottawa Entrance around 9.40 am today.
The Southern Expressway Maintenance Unit said three cars, a van and a bus were involved in the accident where several people were injured and hospitalised.
The accident was reported as the vehicles were travelling too close to the other.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will make a special address to the nation this evening.
