President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appealed to the international community to assist poorer nations in completing vaccination against the coronavirus.
Addressing the 5th Indian Ocean Summit in Abu Dhabi, the President pointed out that the need for vaccination has become more prominent with the spread of the Omicron virus variant.
The Indian Ocean Conference that is currently underway will conclude today and is being held under the theme “Ecology, Economy, Epidemic”.
President Rajapaksa thanked all countries that donated vaccines under the Covax facility of the World Health Organization.
However, the Head of State said some countries are still not getting sufficient vaccine doses.
