Heavy showers predicted in the Western province

The Department of Meteorology says thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces today.

The Department of Meteorology says thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces today.

It issued a weather warning that heavy showers above 100 mm may occur at some places in the said areas.

Wind speed could increase to 40kmph in the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces.

The highest rainfall between 8am and 12 pm today was reported from Yakkalamulla, Galle at 106mm.

The Met Department requested public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
