The Department of Meteorology predicts showers at times in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces today.
The Met Department said several spells of showers will occur in the Western and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere.
It added fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph can be expected in the western slope of central hills, Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces and in the Trincomalee district.
Meanwhile, due to the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka until the 7th of September.
The Met Department said the sun will be directly overhead in the towns of Palampiddi, Omanthai and Eramadu today at around noon.
