Reports indicate that the western slope of the central hills will continue to receive heavy rainfall.
NewsRadio area correspondent said the spill gates of the Castlereagh reservoir were opened, as the it was close to spill levels due to continuous rainfall in the area.
The Maussakelle Reservoir is also nearing spill level.
Engineers in charge of the reservoirs said power generation at the Canyon, Laxapana, New Laxapana, Polpitiya and Wimalasurendra hydropower plants will be done at maximum capacity, in line with the increase in the reservoir’s water levels.
