Trade unions in the health sector have decided to temporarily suspend the ongoing strike action for 14 days from today.
Unions informed they will resume work from 8am tomorrow and return the health services to normalcy.
Convener of the Health Trade Union Confederation Ravi Kumudesh said unions expect the President to intervene and resolve their issues within the 14 days.
He also condemned the actions of the Minister of Health and the Secretary to the Ministry of Health.
Kumudesh claimed the Health Minister had distorted the agreements reached during discussions with trade unions at media briefings, and condemned such actions.
He noted however a decision was reached to suspend the strike as the health service was brought to a standstill over a long period of time.
Health unions have been protesting for the past nine days over seven demands.
