The Government Medical Officers’ Association says a number of issues have arisen pertaining to Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella holding official discussions with trade unions, in an unprofessional manner.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, a member of the GMOA Central Committee Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa condemned the discussion reportedly held between the Health Minister and the Government Medical Officers’ Forum.
Dr. Sugathadasa said an individual named Rukshan Bellana formed the Government Medical Officers’ Forum and claims to be its President.
Dr. Sugathadasa said according to information received the forum does not have any members except office bearers.
He said Rukshan Bellana does not possess a registration as a medical practitioner under Article 29 of the Medical Ordinance of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
Dr. Sugathadasa said they have concerns over the Health Minister conducting official discussions with such individuals citing that the ulterior motive of the talks is to disband the GMOA through various transfer panels.
