Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi today consented to tabling a report in Parliament every Tuesday that the House convenes, on the prevalent COVID-19 situation in the country.

The Minister was responding to a request made by leader of the United National Party former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in the House today.

Ranil Wickremesinghe requested either the Prime Minister or the Health Minister to update Parliament of the coronavirus situation at the commencement of each Parliamentary week.

The UNP leader said such a report will help solve conflicting issues that arise owing to various statements made by individuals pertaining to the coronavirus.

Responding, Minister Wanniarachchi said the report will be tabled in the House on Tuesday’s that Parliament convenes.

The UNP leader said in the United Kingdom, the Health Minister or the Prime Minister make a statement in Parliament weekly of the coronavirus situation.

Wickremesinghe added as the Cabinet of Ministers convene on Monday, it is apt to have the report tabled in Parliament on Tuesday’s.
