Health authorities have called for a national day to be declared to vaccinate persons aged over 20 years, who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine thus far.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Consultant Community Physician Dr. Kapila Jayaratne said 94 percent of persons aged over 20 years in the country have been vaccinated adding however there is still six percent that have not obtained the vaccine.
Dr. Jayaratne therefore called for a national vaccination day to be declared to such persons a final chance to obtain the vaccine.
He noted they are part of the society and their lives matter.
Dr. Kapila Jayaratne added health officials must also prevent them from spreading the virus to others.
